Royal Deeside, Scotland This is a delightful, detached self catering holiday cottage, rated 4 star by Visit Scotland, with extensive views of the hills and valley in which the peaceful village of Finzean is situated. It sits in the large gardens surrounding the owner's house. The modern, bright and spacious cottage sleeps 4 and provides very attractive and cosy accommodation and is equipped to a high standard. Accommodation comprises of hall, lounge, large kitchen/dining area, utility room, two bedrooms, one double and one twin bedded (in addition there is a double sofa bed in the lounge), shower room with toilet and basin. It has it's own garden, sitting area with furniture, BBQ and a ramp to front entrance. The cottage, 7.5 miles west of Banchory, is ideally located for exploring Royal Deeside famous for its Highland Games in the summer. There is a wide range of sporting activities available locally, including hill walking, mountain biking, skiing, horse riding, climbing, fishing, there are 9 golf courses and a driving range within 10-30 minutes drive and an outdoor activity centre within 10 miles providing activities including go-karting, quad biking and 4x4 driving. Banchory, Aboyne, Ballater and Braemar are all within easy reach by car and provide an excellent range of restaurants and shops. Days out can be planned round the variety of the many gardens and castles in the surrounding area such as Balmoral, Crathes, Drum and many more. Aberdeen, the beautiful 'Granite City', 26 miles away offers much of historical and cultural interest. Local shop 1 mile, farm shop & tea room 1/2 mile, restaurant and pub 2.5 miles. Drumhead Cottage Directions Directions From Banchory at the only set of traffic lights turn down Dee Street and cross the River Dee Bridge. Continue on this B976 road for approx 7 miles and you will enter the village of Finzean. At the sharp corner (beside the Finzean shop and post office) take the left fork and continue on this road until the first road to your right signposted Finzean School and Church. We are the first house on the left before you reach the Church. From Aboyne follow the sign posts for South Deeside Road (cross the River Dee Bridge) and take a left along the South Deeside B976 road for approx 7 miles (go through Ballogie) and after you reach the summit of Corsedardar hill you will see a road to your right signposted Finzean Church and School. Take this road and continue for about 1 mile. As soon as you pass the Church we are the first house on the right. From A90 Dundee to Aberdeen Road at Brechin junction. This route takes approximately 1 hour from Dundee to our cottage. This is a windy road so take your time (this route takes about 40 minutes less than the Stonehaven route and takes about 1 hour less than going all the way to Aberdeen) Take the 2nd exit signposted Brechin B966 and continue on this road through Edzell and continue until you reach Fettercairn. Take the B974 road signposted Cairn o' Mount, Banchory & Strachan. Upon reaching the summit of Cairn o' Mount continue for approximately 5 miles until you reach an AA box on your left hand side and a road signposted Aboyne. Take a left at this road and continue until the end of this road where you reach a junction. Take a left signposted Aboyne B976 and continue for under 1 ½ miles and you will enter the village of Finzean and on the sharp corner you will see a post office and shop and opposite a football park, take the left fork in the road and continue for approximately ½ mile and you will see a road to your right signposted Finzean Church and School. Turn right up the hill and we are the first house on the left before the church. From the A90 Dundee to Aberdeen Road - at Stonehaven junction. Take the B957 road signposted Banchory and continue until you reach Crathes *. You cross the River Dee Bridge and you will reach a junction. Take a left signposted Banchory and continue for 3 miles and you will enter Banchory; continue until you reach the only set of traffic lights. At the traffic lights turn left down Dee Street B976 road and cross the river Dee Bridge and continue on this road for about 7 miles and you will enter the village of Finzean and on the sharp corner you will see a post office and shop and opposite a football park, take the left fork in the road and continue for approximately ½ mile and you will see a road to your right signposted Finzean Church and School. Turn right up the hill and we are the first house on the left before the church. *alternatively when you enter Crathes you will see a road to your right before the River Dee Bridge signposted Strachan or Banchory, take this road to the end and you will cross the small Feugh Bridge. At the junction take a left on the B976 road and continue for about 7 miles until you enter Finzean.
